Condition Assessment

A full condition assessment survey using Hi-Res Still Shot Photography or Hi-Res Video is one of the most cost effective methods for inspecting transmission line or other EHV circuits.

In the past, this has been carried out by climbing techniques which take up a lot of time and energy and require a number of personnel to inspect each structure safely. Now, these surveys are carried out by air using the very latest hi mega-pixel camera or Hi-Res Video System each providing their very own attributes.

Hi-Resolution Still Shot Photography

Condition Assessment still camera in use

This service is carried out using a very high resolution still shot camera (21mp or higher) to capture pictures of a group of components  on an asset, to produce an overall view and build up an image of the whole item.

This information is then processed per asset, detailing results on each component requiring inspection. It can then be imported along with any hyperlinked images into a database of choice allowing asset managers to easily view results and determine when and where to focus their energy.

Hi-Res Video

Condition Assessment NIE 09This method uses a high resolution or high definition gyro-stabilised video camera system with a very large optical zoom (72x or higher). The Pilot, Camera Operator and Overhead Line Engineer all work in unison to inspect each component in real time and record as they go. Each component can be zoomed in so that even a split pin can fill the screen. This type of method allows the team to decide if they need to move position to get the best image possible.

The recorded data is then edited and still images are exported from the video for each degraded component. These images are then imported into a database and sent to our clients for their assessment.
